6 best hotels in Montenegro that have received the prestigious Michelin key

The hotels recommended by the Michelin Guide represent the pinnacle of the hospitality industry. With the introduction of the "Michelin Key" label, the Guide evaluates hotels according to rigorous, universal criteria that guarantee an exceptional stay experience.

The Michelin Key list features a variety of hotel types – from luxury city hotels and boutiques, to designer oases in nature, to accommodations with a local flair. Each one has its own unique style, attention to detail and commitment to quality. Hotels receive from one to three "keys" depending on the level of excellence of the stay, with three keys denoting an exceptional destination.

Boutique Hotel Casa del Mare Mediterraneo – one Michelin Key
Casa del Mare Mediterraneo, located on a spectacular small beach in Kamenari, is a living testament to Montenegro's success in developing tourism. With just 17 rooms and suites, this hotel truly has a boutique dimension, and thanks to a recent renovation, it now offers the ultimate luxury experience. All rooms, suites and suites with luxury amenities have balconies overlooking the sea. The style is modern, yet steeped in the past, with weathered stone walls that evoke the region’s heritage.

Villa Geba – a Michelin star
When long-standing luxury destinations – like the French Riviera, for example – become overdeveloped or oversaturated, new locations step into the picture. Among them is Montenegro’s Adriatic coast, home to the spectacular resort of Sveti Stefan, home to a hidden gem – Boutique Hotel Villa Geba, a seven-suite hotel with the Apollonia Suite. The hotel literally rises on a hillside, offering views of the Adriatic and the picturesque islet of Sveti Stefan in the distance. In terms of design, no two units are the same – each is named after a different mythological figure. Each suite is at least 80 square meters, with a fully equipped kitchen, a luxurious bathroom and a spacious living area, offering a blend of comfort, style and ultimate convenience.

The Chedi Luštica Bay – one Michelin key
Probably no one but GHM Hotels, the management company behind the Chedi brand, would put Montenegro on the same list of exclusive destinations as Switzerland, Bali and Oman. However, Montenegro is already home to several top luxury resorts, and Luštica Bay – a planned marina settlement in the Bay of Kotor – has the ambition to surpass them all, with at least seven hotels in the pipeline. And thanks to the “blank canvas” with which it started, The Chedi Luštica Bay had complete freedom to implement its distinctive vision of all-encompassing luxury. The hotel is designed as a small village in itself. The style is contemporary-luxurious, combining calming minimalism, vibrant colours and inspiration from the Far East, while comfort and facilities are completely at the highest contemporary level.

One&Only Portonovi – two Michelin keys
The Adriatic coast of Montenegro has seen a significant development of luxury tourism in recent years, and the arrival of the One&Only Portonovi resort in 2021 – which was the brand’s first hotel in Europe at the time – has given a strong boost to this trend. Its rooms, suites and villas are distinguished by elegance, spaciousness and exceptional comfort, while the view of the Bay of Kotor provides an unusually calming experience.

Regent Porto Montenegro – one Michelin key
The Bay of Kotor has a rich and turbulent history, but the days of pirates and the Venetian Empire are long gone. Today, it is home to fleets of superyachts, the bustling development of the Tivat coast and, to top it all, the Regent Porto Montenegro hotel, part of a vast complex that combines nautical, gastronomic, shopping and entertainment. The times when this area was a shipyard for the Yugoslav Navy are long gone. Now, it’s a haven of luxury and hedonism, in keeping with the vision of Canadian tycoon Peter Munk, who wanted to create the “Monaco of the South Adriatic.” In the rooms, Tino Zervudachi enhances the nautical spirit with Venetian stripes on fabrics, hardwood floors, and an abundance of shades of aquamarine, creating the perfect balance between elegance and nautical charm.

SIRO Boka Place – One Michelin Key
After opening its first hotel, One Za’abeel in Dubai, the fitness-focused brand SIRO has opened its second hotel and wellness retreat in Porto Montenegro, in Boka Kotorska. The experience of taking care of your body and mind begins in the minimalist and functionally designed rooms, equipped with a yoga mat and elastic bands for in-room exercise, as well as a pillow menu and meditation playlists that contribute to better sleep. A true dedication to health and regeneration is reflected in the Fitness and Recovery Labs. The SIRO Table restaurant complements the concept of holistic well-being, offering meals rich in nutritional values, which can be personalized with the help of a SIRO nutritionist.
